Need 50 of these.

Got it: a machined aluminum bracket, about 120 × 80 × 15 mm from your file. Does the surface get seen, or does it just need to work?

Then as-machined, no coating: cheapest. Where should the 50 pieces ship to?

You answer in plain words. The RFQ writes itself in factory terms.

  • Metal only, for now

Machined and sheet-metal parts, from aluminum to titanium. One kind of shop, one way of quoting.

  • Reads your files, writes factory terms

Size, units and part names come straight from the file. Alloys, finishes and tolerance classes are written the way a buyer writes them.

  • Free to quote

Quotes cost nothing. You pay the factory through Easy Source when you approve its price, platform fee included.

How it works

Three steps, one chat.

    01

    Send the part

A STEP, IGES, STL or DXF file, a PDF drawing, or a photo of the metal part with its measurements. Dimensions, units and part names are read straight from the file.

    02

    Answer a few questions

How many, what the part does, where it ships, when. Alloy, finish, process and tolerances are decided for you and written out in factory terms. Anything the drawing already states is never asked.

    Priced in the chat

The RFQ goes to machine shops and fabricators that make this kind of part. Every reply, price and negotiation step lands in your chat, per factory, until there is one offer worth approving.

What factories receive

A complete RFQ, every time.

Factories quote fast and accurately when the request is complete. Yours always is: the request cannot go out until every field a shop needs is filled, decided, or read from your drawing.

  • Alloy and grade, with acceptable alternatives
  • Finish, tolerances and critical features
  • Quantity, plus the price breaks worth asking for
  • Process, secondary operations, certifications
  • Ship-to, timing, samples
  • Your files, with what was read from them

After the RFQ goes out

Every shop, tracked to the offer.

Inquiries go to several machine shops at once. Each one is tracked in your chat from first contact to final offer, with prices, minimums, sample costs and lead times side by side. Price and terms are negotiated for you; you approve the one that fits.

First prices typically arrive within a few days to two weeks.

Questions

Before you send a file.

Which parts do you quote?
Metal parts only, for now: mostly CNC machined and turned parts, and sheet metal that is laser cut, bent or welded, in aluminum, steel, stainless, brass, copper and titanium. Plastics, rubber, wood, composites and electronics aren't quoted yet.
What do I need to start?
One of three things: a CAD file, a drawing, or a photo of the actual part with its measurements. A hand sketch with the dimensions written on it counts.
I only have a photo.
That works, with measurements. You'll be asked for the few that matter: overall size, thickness, any holes. Rough numbers are fine to get prices.
Do I need to know alloys or processes?
No. If the drawing doesn't state it, it's decided from what the part does and you're told in one line. You can override anything.
What does it cost?
Getting quotes is free. When you approve a factory's price, you pay through Easy Source and a platform fee is included in that payment. Nothing before then.
How long until I see prices?
First prices usually arrive within a few days to two weeks, depending on the part and the shops. Each factory's progress is posted in your chat as it happens.
Which file types are read?
STEP, STP, IGES, STL, DXF and PDF drawings are read for size, units and part names. Other CAD formats are accepted as attachments.
My part is plastic. Can you quote it?
Not yet. Easy Source quotes metal parts only for now. If the part could be made in metal instead, the assistant will say so and quote it that way.
